Top 3 – Mountain Adventure
Three of Norway’s best mountain peaks in the same trip!
In six days, you will experience some of the most spectacular summits in Norway – stress free.
We begin with the spectacular Romsdalseggen (1,320 metres above sea level) and Rampestreken, then continue from beautiful Romsdalen to Geitfonnegga in Geiranger (1,453 metres above sea level), and we finish the trip on Norway’s highest mountain – the legendary 2469 Galdhøpiggen.
We’ll have some authentic experiences in nature, at the same time as enjoying good company, good local food, and comfortable accommodation. You don’t need to be in top physical condition but it’s important that you have had some prior experience of walking on rugged mountain terrain and that you are prepared for a lot of uphills and downhills… Good preparation is always an advantage!
This trip is for you if you appreciate powerful experiences in amazing natural surroundings. In six thrilling days, we do some of the most beautiful summit trips we have in Norway.
The view, the sense of achievement and the excitement will create memories that will stay with you for the rest of your life.
With a little preparation, we’re certain that you’ll have some fantastic experiences with us.
For the first three nights, we stay at the Grand Hotel Bellevue in Åndalsnes and the Hotel Union in Geiranger. Both provide great service and all the comforts you need. The food is just as important as the surroundings.
We spend the final night at Juvasshytta – with fantastic views towards Norway’s highest mountain peak.
You drive to Åndalsnes and the other places we visit. On the day of arrival, we meet at the hotel in Åndalsnes at 7.00p.m. for a lovely group dinner.
On the day of departure, you choose the time you wish to leave. You might want to do another summit trip while you’re in the fantastic mountain region around the Jotunheimen National Park.
On this trip, we will be staying at the following places:
Good food and lovely hospitality at every stop.
In collaboration with our partners, we arrange our trips in accordance with the infection control advice from the Norwegian Institute of Public Health. In order for you to feel safe, we have made adjustments to our tours to ensure that we always comply with the advice from the authorities.
It is, of course, also important that you yourself take responsibility and follow the rules at all times, uphold social distancing, wash your hands, use antibacterial hand sanitiser, and wear a mask where necessary. You must bring your own antibacterial hand sanitiser.
Meals included in the price:
NB! On the day of arrival, only the dinner is included. Lunch on day 4, (the rest day), is up to you to arrange.
On the day of departure, breakfast and a packed lunch is included.
The programme is preliminary, Expa Travel Norway reserves the right to make any changes throughout the trip. Weather conditions: we may have to change the order of the excursions if the weather dictates.
Arrive at the Grand Hotel Åndalsnes either in your own car or by bus or train.
Meet at 6.00p.m. for a briefing and welcome dinner at the hotel.
We’ll get to know each other and go through the coming days’ adventure!
We start the day with a cup of coffee and enjoy a good breakfast at the hotel before we take the local bus (approx. 20 minutes) to the starting point for Romsdalseggen, one of the world’s most beautiful mountain trips.
For the first 1-2 hours we head up and enjoy the view of Trollveggen with its sharp peaks. We’ll find a nice place where it’s warm and eat our packed lunches there. If we’re lucky, we can enjoy our lunch right on the edge of the ridge, in prime position for a view over some of Norway’s wildest mountains such as Romsdalshorn, Kongen and Dronninga. And, not least, the beautiful Romsdalsfjorden.
On the way down, at the steepest part, we come to Rampestreken – the vantage point that has become famous in recent years from the TV programme ‘Kompani Lauritzen’. Here you have a fantastic view over Åndalsnes – taking a photo out at the edge of the ramp is a must!
The last hundred metres down towards the town and the hotel can be demanding, but it is a brilliant way to round off the day.
At the hotel, a lovely shower awaits and a well-deserved dinner before you are overcome by sleep after a long and memorable day.
We wake up, happy, and possibly a bit stiff…after yesterday. We enjoy a lovely breakfast at the hotel before we start the trip to Geiranger. On the way there, we drive up Trollstigen and down to the Gudbrandsjuvet ravine. Then we continue towards Valldal, where we stop to taste some local delicacies (lunch), before taking the ferry over towards Eidsdal and Geitfonnegga.
We park the cars and gather for a short briefing.
The trip to Geitfonnegga is a steady and steep climb all the way but it isn’t particularly long. At the top, the guide dishes up a lovely meal (dinner) made with local ingredients, while we enjoy the view over the Geirangerfjord and the surrounding peaks. We then make our way back to the cars and if we are lucky, we’ll get to see the sunset in the west. A short drive of approx. 20mins to the hotel, Hotel Union Geiranger.
Check in and some relaxation before resting for the night and the next day.
Today we have plenty of time. After breakfast, we drive the mountain pass, Nibbevegen (Dalsnibba). Here we stop to enjoy the view of the Geirangerfjord one last time before we head towards Jotunheimen.
In Lom we have a bit of free time. You can decide whether you want to have lunch at Brimibue, or pay a visit to the popular bakery.
The toughest among you might want to try the Zipline over the Prestfossen waterfall?
In the afternoon, we drive up to the Juvasshytta where we will stay for the last night and have dinner together in the evening. We will go through the following day’s trip to the ‘roof of Norway’, Galdhøpiggen.
A lovely closing dinner with local ingredients at Juvasshytta.
We wake up refreshed but with a few butterflies! We eat breakfast and make a packed lunch in the dining room at Juvasshytta. Galdhøpiggen is more than a mountain! It’s 2,469 metres above sea level and it is a national treasure, known as the ‘roof of Norway’.
The local guide starts with a briefing and a review of the equipment. We walk together to the edge of the Styggebreen glacier. From here, we go up to the top connected by ropes. The journey up requires teamwork, and a bit of balance and patience.
At the top, you will be pleased with your experiences, your achievements, and the solidarity of the group. This experience will be one you will never forget.
The trip back to Juvasshytta gives you time to gather your thoughts and enjoy the beautiful Jotunheimen mountains. It is a fantastic area in one of Norway’s mountainous regions.
To finish off, we gather the group together one last time and say goodbye before everyone makes their way home.
The programme is preliminary and subject to change.
