Beautiful Rosendal in spectacular autumn colours
Now you can join Expa Travel and Eirun on a mountain yoga journey in Eirun’s lovely home region of Hardanger.
On this trip, you can experience the splendid region of Hardanger in spectacular autumn colours. Meet Eirun and find peace and balance in Rosendal. The programme includes hikes to Malmangernuten, Folkefonna glacier, and Bondhusvatn lake, known from National Romanticism paintings. Naturally, there will be both time and opportunities for socialising, and for cider tasting with one of the local suppliers. It will also be possible to visit the manor house, Baroniet!
This is a trip that combines experiences, stunning nature and yoga. We can help you find balance in your body through experiences in nature. We facilitate a sense of accomplishment through yoga and fantastic mountain hikes.
On this trip, we bring you along on several powerful nature experiences in idyllic Rosendal in Hardanger. Over a 5-day period, you will have the opportunity to spend some time on your own with some expert assistance by Eirun. She grew up in Rosendal and is proud to show visitors around her home village.
Beautiful Rosendal Turisthotell is the perfect starting point for great hikes, and we will adjust these to the yoga sessions. We will also enjoy delicious, locally sourced meals. It will almost feel like coming home!
The hikes are intended for all levels.
In other words: We will live well, eat well and enjoy Hardanger and its wonderful surroundings.
Transport to and from Rosendal is not included in the price, and must be arranged by each guest.
With nature as the inspiration for its interior, and its spectacular view over Hardangerfjorden, Rosendal Turisthotell has a wonderful and welcoming atmosphere.
Over the last decade, the hotel has undergone extensive renovations, and the result is a unique and charming appearance. This hotel will be our base during the period. Here, we can relax between activities and be served meals with locally sourced seasonal ingredients.
We rent 13 rooms on the second floor, which all differ in size and design. Single rooms, double rooms and family rooms. Shared bathroom and toilets are located in the hallways.
Each room provides a basket of comfortable robes.
Breakfast is served in the hotel restaurant. Free Wi-Fi
The hotel has a good restaurant with its own wine cellar. As the hotel states, “peace and comfort is our focus”.
Eirun will meet you at the hotel upon arrival.
In collaboration with our partners, we arrange our trips in accordance with the infection control advice from the Norwegian Institute of Public Health. In order for you to feel safe, we have made adjustments to our tours to ensure that we always comply with the advice from the authorities.
It is, of course, also important that you yourself take responsibility and follow the rules at all times, uphold social distancing, wash your hands, use antibacterial hand sanitiser, and wear a mask where necessary. You must bring your own masks and antibacterial hand sanitiser.
All meals listed in the programme are included.
Guests make their own lunches at breakfast for our excursions.
The daily programme is preliminary. Expa Travel reserves the right to make any changes along the way. Weather conditions: we may change the order of the excursions due to the weather.
We meet up at Rosendal Turisthotell and check in. Eirun then takes us through a yoga session designed to limber up stiff bodies after a long drive.
We are then served an elegant dinner with locally sourced ingredients, while also enjoying a fantastic view of Hardangerfjorden.
After breakfast, we drive from Jondalen up to Folgefonna. The guide will provide some information before we begin our hike, which takes us through a glacial landscape with spectacular glacier crevasses. There are plenty of opportunities for views of stunning Hardangerfjord with its lush surrounding landscape. Note the stark contrasts as you gaze across the green landscape on the horizon, while surrounded by snow and ice. We will be moving at a comfortable pace across the glacier to give us time to enjoy the scene.
Back at the hotel, we can relax in the sun with some locally brewed cider before dinner. Drinks that are as local as they come!
We start the day with a gentle yoga session and a long breakfast before driving to Sundal.
From Sundal, we’ll walk up to Bondhusvatnet lake, which has been a favourite destination since the 1800s. This is an easy gravel path.
The colours reflected in the water, the unique landscape and the glacier in the background makes this one of the most beautiful valleys in Norway.
We will take our time and eat our lunches by the water. Weather permitting, we will have a somewhat different yoga session by the water.
Back at the hotel, there will be cider tasting, Norway’s equivalent of champagne. There are 19 different cider producers along Hardangerfjorden, all of which create their own unique cider, based on their location, history and apples. Perhaps there will be a little cider left for dinner?
After morning yoga and breakfast, we pack our backpacks and get ready for a hike up to Malmangernuten. The hike starts in a steep terrain. The local population had Sherpas to help them build steps up the steep mountainside.
Up on the plateau, the terrain evens out, and offers magnificent views. A panoramic view of Rosendal and neighbouring villages along the border between Sunnhordaland and Hardanger. With the sea, fjords, waterfalls and impressive mountain terrain.
In the afternoon, guests can visit Baroniet manor house, if they wish.
We have to agree with the manor’s own text: “The little palace owned by Ludvig Rosenkrantz and Karen Mowatt from the 1660s is surrounded by beautiful and historical grounds, with a Renaissance garden, romantic landscape park and vegetable garden. From the Rosendal Gardens, there is a spectacular view of the mountain range including Malmangernuten, Melderskin and Laurdalstind, as well as the Hattebergfossen waterfall and Hardangerfjorden. Here you can experience more than 300 years of garden history!”
Back at the hotel, guests can relax and enjoy dinner on their last day.
Time to go home after a few days in peaceful surroundings. Days where time has stood still, and we feel a sense of peace.
This is the final yoga session with Eirun before we leave for home. Enjoy the view of Hardanger one last time.
