Friends, bikes, food and drink, electric bikes, socialising, beautiful scenery, Vespas and good humour is a recipe that rarely goes wrong! And it didn’t when we took Jostein and Tone’s friends on a combined bike and Vespa trip to northern Italy.
In 2017, Tone & Jostein once again invited their friends on a friends’ trip, this time to Lake Como, Lake Maggiore and Lako Lugano.
Things get a bit boisterous when 40 wonderful people get together on the same tour!
And on this trip, both husband and wife were pleased– it was a free choice of transport to reach each destination, so there was something for everyone.
19 Vespas, 8 racing bikes and 10 electric bikes.
When the van with our transport arrived, we all stood outside our first hotel as excited as children; which bike am I going to get? Will I get a red, black, or silver Vespa?
There was total chaos and a lot of laughter as we haphazardly tested, corrected and adjusted – it was all about befriending your mode of transport as quickly as possible!
Over the next three days, we split up into groups (bikes, electric bikes and Vespas), each with the same goal; to enjoy the scenery all the way to the next hotel. On the way, we met each other, both intentionally and randomly, and it didn’t go unnoticed when all the horns on the Vespas went off; for miles around people could hear that we were in town.😀
WE took photographs of the amazing scenery, villages and mountains – and the locals took pictures of US….
We had lots of experiences out in nature. We packed in valleys, lakes, mountaintops and villages, all in good company. A tonic for the soul!
It was possibly a LITTLE cooler than we had expected, but everyone had suitable clothes with them, and as long as the sun was shining on us every day, we were happy!
We had such a good time that many of us were already starting to plan our next trip, possibly to Lake Garda, the Dolomites and Tuscany – only time will tell….😀
You can see a film from the tour here. Enjoy!😀
