Brief info about the trip

This is a trip for those who enjoy slalom and randonee skiing. You don’t need to be an expert alpine skier with lots of alpine touring (randonee) experience, but you do need to enjoy a challenge.
We will be climbing many altitude metres on our way up the mountain. So some preparation is necessary.
Our mountaineering excursions vary, and they are adapted according to skill level. One day will be spent on an excursion out in the wilderness by dog sled – a true adventure!

Our overnight accommodation – Lyngen Experience Lodge – is perfectly situated, just a short distance to some of the most beautiful peaks in Lyngen. The lodge has its own restaurant, sauna and a small spa. There is also a lovely terrace with an enchanting view of the fjord and mountains, where we can search for the Northern Lights.

Experienced, certified guides, with in-depth knowledge of the local conditions will accompany you on all mountaineering trips.
Every morning, the guides will brief guests on the day’s activities. Activities will depend on the snow and weather conditions. We will head to the area with the best conditions on that specific day. After the briefing, we’ll pack our equipment and drive to the starting point for the trip.

Skill level

Trips are adapted to the group’s skill level. State your skill level in the registration form:
– Beginner
– Medium (have gone Randonee skiing at least 5 – 10 times before)
– Expert / Advanced

On dog sledding excursions, we drive in pairs. One person drives while the other is a passenger. A true wilderness adventure.

Most of this trip is included in the price. You only need to book your own airline ticket to Tromsø.

Note! Limited number of spots – max. 14 participants.

Highlights

Programme

Our programme is determined each day by weather conditions and the most optimal snow conditions, with respect to powder snow, wind, safety, etc. Our local guides have in-depth knowledge of the area, and will brief guests on the day’s activities each morning at breakfast.

We expect each day hike to take about 4 to 6 hours.

Day 1Arrival in Tromsø

We meet up by the exit of Tromsø Airport at 11:00 and drive directly from the airport to Lyngen.
Lyngen Experience Lodge, the crew and guides will welcome you. Check-in and a light lunch.

After lunch, the guides take us on our first mountaineering trip. We will test the equipment and get a feel for the conditions. The trip takes about 3 to 4 hours.

Late dinner with locally sourced food.

Day 2Mountaineering excursion to the peak

We eat breakfast at 07:00 and are ready to leave at 08:00 to ensure the best conditions, hopefully with sunny skies.
Our programme is determined each day by the weather conditions and the most optimal snow conditions, with respect to powder snow, wind, safety, etc. Guides will brief the guests on the day’s excursion each morning after breakfast. Count on at least 1000 altitude metres.
Pack your own lunch at breakfast. We expect each day hike to take about 5 to 6 hours.

Back at the Lodge, there will be après-ski and opportunities for socialising.

Time for sauna and outdoor hot tub before a delicious, well-deserved dinner.

Day 3Dog sledding excursion in the wilderness

Somewhat later breakfast today. At 09:00, we will be picked up by our guides for the dog sledding excursion. After a thorough briefing, we’ll head off with our own dog sled team. We will be driving in pairs and take turns acting as driver and passenger.

Weather conditions will determine the route.
Along the way, we will stop to make a campfire and eat lunch.
We expect to be back at the lodge by 17:00. A little après-ski and socialising before dinner.
The sauna is available for those who wish to relax and scan the sky for Northern Lights.

We round off the day with a lovely dinner.

Day 4Mountaineering excursion and departure

We get up early for a hearty breakfast before the guides pick us up for the last mountaineering excursion.

After a few magical hours in the mountains, we return to the lodge to pack our bags before eating lunch.
We then board the bus and head back to the airport in Tromsø. We expect to be at the airport by 18:00.
This will gives guests plenty of time to make a SAS or Norwegian flight at approx. 20:00.

Relax on the flight home and reflect on all your activities after a few adventurous days, which you will hopefully remember for years to come.
